In addition to our Homeschool Haven program, we offer a rotating selection of elective classes each semester to support and enrich your child’s education. These classes are designed to inspire curiosity, build skills, and provide space for creativity and growth, all in a welcoming, nature-connected environment.

This hands-on class invites students to explore, discover, and learn in the most inspiring classroom of all, nature! Surrounded by trees, animals, trails, and a peaceful pond, kids will dive into activities like animal observation, nature journaling, sketching, and creative art projects. It’s the perfect blend of science and imagination, designed for curious minds who love to learn by doing.

Life on the ranch isn’t just about the barnyard animals. Hidden Hills Ranch is also home to countless unseen creatures, each playing a unique role in the ecosystem. In this class, students will uncover the hidden world of wildlife that shares the ranch, exploring animal adaptations, how their needs are met, and how both wild and domestic animals coexist in harmony.

Students will learn foundational sewing skills, including both basic hand stitching and beginner sewing machine techniques. This class is designed specifically for new sewers and requires that students can read and follow written instructions. Throughout the session, students will have the opportunity to create a variety of projects—some by hand, others using a machine—building confidence and creativity with each one.

This class builds on foundational sewing knowledge, helping students continue to grow their sewing machine skills with confidence. It is designed for those who have completed at least one year of sewing instruction.
Students should already be familiar with the basics, including how to thread a machine, load a bobbin, and understand common sewing terms. Helpful skills include the ability to perform basic hand stitches, maintain a consistent seam allowance, sew corners by machine, and execute techniques like “drop and pivot” (dropping the needle, lifting the presser foot, and turning the fabric).

Students will practice math skills using stories, games, and activities in the garden, in the barn, and around the pond. They will strategize what math process or processes they need to use to solve real world problems. Grade-level appropriate standards taught according to the needs of the students. This combined class can be based around the curriculum currently being used by students. If there are things from a lower grade level that students need further work on, it will be addressed.

Knotty Hide Leatherworks

Leatherworking is one of humanity's oldest trades. Students will look at the history of leather making over the years to current techniques and see its use in practical and artistic uses. Students will cut, punch, dye for color, shape and stamp leather. Knots are also an important part of assembling leather items – this will cover some knot tying techniques as well.

Hola! In this lively outdoor adventure, students discover the joy of Spanish through games, songs, nature, and movement – all under the open sky!
